BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia launched a scathing attack on the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and its leader Tejashwi Yadav, accusing them of undermining Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of empowering backward classes, Dalits, and women, and of promoting an ideology contrary to the Constitution.

Speaking to the media, Bhatia alleged that RJD’s politics caters to religious appeasement and claimed they are “trying to implement Sharia Law” instead of upholding Babasaheb Ambedkar’s Constitution.

“Those who call themselves ‘samajwadi’ in Bihar are actually ‘namazwadi’. They neither want Babasaheb’s Constitution nor do they respect it. They only seek to empower one community,” Bhatia said.

He slammed Tejashwi Yadav for his remarks rejecting the Waqf Amendment Bill, which was passed by Parliament and signed by the President.

“Tejashwi says he will throw the Waqf Bill in the dustbin. Is he above the law or the Supreme Court? The case is still pending, and the top court has reserved its order. This anarchic attitude shows disdain for judicial authority,” he added.

Bhatia also accused Congress of endorsing similar views in their 2024 manifesto, claiming it included references to implementing Sharia Law and religion-based reservations, which he said violate the Constitution.

Highlighting past RJD statements, Bhatia pointed out that Lalu Prasad Yadav in 2010 criticized the Waqf Board for “land grabbing” and called for stricter laws—contradicting the party’s current stance. He added that Tejashwi’s criticism of the Waqf Amendment Act was an attempt to stoke social divisions.

“Our government focuses on development. They talk about Sharia Law. In Karnataka, Congress diverted backward class benefits to one community. This is part of the same appeasement pattern,” he alleged.

He further accused the Yadav family of dynastic politics, stating they never allowed leadership beyond their family and now pretend to champion youth empowerment.

“Tejashwi Yadav is asking for 20 months, but the Yadav family ruled Bihar for over a decade. What did they deliver? Jungle Raj, scams, and lawlessness. Now they talk about youth and reform?” Bhatia questioned.

Meanwhile, Tejashwi Yadav, speaking at the Vaishya Representative Conference in Patna, pushed back against the NDA’s ‘Jungle Raj’ narrative, stating the BJP was trying to instill fear rather than addressing real issues like trade and employment.

“We’ve been in opposition for 20 years, yet they keep blaming us. What has the NDA done for Bihar? They talk about Jungle Raj instead of offering a development blueprint,” Yadav said, defending his 18-month tenure as Deputy CM.

The exchange comes amid rising political temperatures in Bihar, where assembly elections are due later this year.
